The International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO) is a world organization of surgical groups that promote and support the surgical treatment of morbid obesity (extreme overweight).
The Worldwide obesity epidemic has become a significant health problem and morbid obesity in particular.
The huge burden on health care system and the very high risk of severe morbidities on these patient necessitates adequate treatment.
During the world congresses of IFSO recent developments in the treatment are presented and world leaders in the field of bariatric surgery give valuable overviews.
Prof. Dr. Carlos A. Casalnuovo has been elected as the president of the XIII World Congress of IFSO that will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The designated date is September 24-27th, 2008.
We expect to have a spectacular meeting with a high level scientific program for the executive board of IFSO.
